The project from Denmark

The project from Denmark for World Youth Day 2019 in Panama.

Young Catholics in Denmark, who represent 30 counties from all over the world, together with Sister Teresa Piekos SBDNP, have executed a large unique icon image with stamp technique using pencil with eraser and acrylic colors.

The project leader is a Polish nun, Sister Teresa/Terezja Piekos SBDNP, who belongs to the Maria Immaculata Sister’s community in Copenhagen and who has worked with children and young people for many years in Denmark.

Icon Amen was completed in Saint Anne Parish in Copenhagen in May 2017.

The Icon consists of thousands of small, colorful dots, which symbolize alle people on earth and it is a sign of the universal community of the Church – one big family of God.

The Icon was titled Amen, which alludes to the theme of the WYD in Panama chosen by the Holy Father Francis:

“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be to me according to your word” (Luke 1,38)

Icon Amen is like an open window where you can see the scene of the Annunciation of Mary, and at the same time as the breath of the Holy Spirit, which should awaken people from the lethargy of indifference and ignite human hearts with longing for God and awaken the desire to proclaim with joy and passion the joyful message of Christ for the whole world, so that all men may be saved.

Film Panama Icon Amen

This film is dedicated to the Pope and thus to the holy Catholic Church as well as all young people in the world – especially to the participants in the World Youth Days in Panama in 2019. Pope Francis has received a copy of the icon AMEN and a T-shirt with a print of the icon. The film is part of an evangelization project based on the papal theme for the World Youth Days in Panama in 2019.
